About Me

I’m Beth Chamberlain, a lover of libraries and history since I was a wee girl it would come as no surprise to anyone who knew me growing up that I am now a librarian ‘by day’ and a historian ‘by night’ (or, more likely weekend). Most of my research deals with the mid-19th century and largely with subjects considered to be of the women’s realm – cooking, sewing, knitting, fashion, and household management, with a broad view though as I am not just interested in what dress a lady made with her fabric but also how the fabric was produced and sold. I also have a particular interest in the knitting publications of the era.
